Wii Development Kit To Cost $1,700
Nintendo had a little Q&A at the company’s Corporate Management Policy Briefing yesterday. One of the things mentioned was the development kit for third party developers. Nintendo said that they plan to get many more third party developers on board than they did with the GameCube, and they’ll do that by offering (very) low prices. From Nintendo:
Nintendo hopes to provide third-parties with development kits for as low as $1,732.
The Sony PlayStation 3 kit is rumored to cost somewhere between $30,000 and $50.000. The Wii might attract independent and small time developers, and as we mentioned a month ago, Wii’s Virtual Console might act as Valve’s Steam service does on the PC.
