EA Shifts Focus From PSP To DS

psp vs ds

EA has acknowledged their lack of support for the DS, and too much support for the PSP. The strong performance of the DS has made EA’s executives reconsider the priorities on the handheld market. EA COO David Gardner says:

“There’s no doubt that EA has historically bet more on PSP. I think we were excited by the technology, but the consumers have proven that actually what they want is fun. We must never forget that what we need to focus on is fun and so EA is putting more effort behind DS games – and creative ones that really take advantage of the hardware.

PSP games are selling very well but PSP as a console is doing very well world wide.

EA just wants to sells games that why they know n-ds nintendo games sell very well ,but i dont know about EA games on n-ds seling good.

As a former GameStop employee, i can tell you this: People, for some reason, just love the DS. Now i’m a psp fan. I think it’s an amazing piece of technology worthy of a techy’s hard-earned dollar. But when it comes to fun, adults and young adults alike seem to flock to the DS. The proof is in the numbers. The DS is killing the psp in sales right now. And the American market is the only thing keeping the psp alive at the moment. Unfortunately, i predict that is subject to change soon. Sony, what happened to that throne you so proudly occupied?!!

  3. StMadnes Says:

OMG. It’s even worse than i thought. Just paste this onto your browser and see how Sony is planning a price cut for the PSP so that it can keep up with the DS.

PSP is doing good i all 3 markets Japan.euope and USA and usa and europe the psp always sells more than n-ds its in japan where the n-ds has the lead.

games wise is where i think the psp is not doing so good when i see the top sales of games i barely see one of 2 games in the top ten in all markets so theres maybe the mistake.

the PSP last time i checked has sold more units then n-ds world wide, but people who own this PSP’s are probably alot using them for homebrew and other stuff.

for me its a matter of time before the PSP gets more love and the respect it really deserves we all know the PSP has always been atacked since it launched back in marh 2k5.

for me i almost have 20 PSP games and 4 UMd flicks and loving it i also use it for musik since i dont have an mp3 player or an ipod.

Shaka, I dont now where you last checked the numbers, but the DS is outselling the PSP, not only Japan, but also in USA, and probably also Europe. The PSP has shipped, not sold, 20 million units worldwide. The Nintendo DS has sold 21 million worldwide. And right now, the tendency is that the DS is in the #1 on all hardware lists. In Japan, the DS-lite has sold an estimated 100.000 units more on weekly basis than the PSP. And nothing at all indicates that this is going to change. Actually with all the different developers now turning towards Nintendo, the DS is going to stand on even harder soil. When the PSP was announced, I also thought it was going to kill nintendo on the handheld market, because that was the idea with the PSP, and when it first was released, all indications also looked in that direction. But not any longer. And in the coming months, a lot of really strong titles are coming to the DS, which is only gonna make it even harder for the PSP to get some market shares back.

Personally I´think it’s amazing, because I’m so tired of FPS shooters and racing games. I am real tired of them. And they have dominated for so long on the PC, PS 2, X-box and X-box 360. Really. I like fun, fluffy, and new kind of games. And I’m so thrilled to see all the new kind of concepts that are heading to the DS. Bravo Nintendo.

Everyone is going to admit, that two years ago, they would never have believed if anyone told them, that Nintendo was heading back to the #1 spot

No, Shaka, No.. The Nintendo DS is killing the PSP in sales right now. Do the reasearch my friend.

  7. Shaka Says:

since i havent seen the sales of n-ds or psp in a long time last time i checked PSP was outselling the n-ds world wide and n-ds has the lead in japan but it USA and europe and psp was outselling the n-ds and also called PSP the fatest selling playstation product to date

,since the n-ds was out i do believe kinda maybe the n-ds has lead thanks to the n-ds lite selling very in japan well but the PSP has already about 40% of the hand held market.

i wouldnt say the n-ds lite is killing the PSP in sells but its doing better thats all.

an yeah with games like ff3 for n-ds seems like the n-ds selling very well trend isnt going to stop anytime soon, but the PSP is there also behind but getting there.

  8. Leon Says:

hi im leon im from Albania .i have PS2 amd xbox 360 but im interested to buy a portable gamer i didnt know wich one to buy PSP or DS tell me

  9. Shaka Says:

buy a PSP its a alot better.

  10. StMadnes Says:

personally, i think the PSP is more of a ‘grown up’ type of hand held than the DS Lite.

  11. microsoft and nintendo kinda guy Says:

Ds is killing it in sales because its a wee bit less than a hundred pound for a ds lite and ds tonk version is around 60 so thats the only reason, talk about games specs and app’s and not to forget the lovely screen on psp, Ds cannot compete there oh maybe Ds do have an advantage because they have made it more prettier and more features but seriously it might beat psp in sales but no way can it beat it in performance, yeah i love nintendo but serious it cannot beat psp in handheld, Wii on the other hand is going to kick ass with Ps3,

    360 and Wii

  12. microsoft and nintendo kinda guy Says:

KICK ASS!!!! lol ;) (i dont mean to cause any arguements here, plus im no fanboy) just loving y’all out there xx

  13. StMadnes Says:

If you’ll notice: The DS is to the PSP what Playstation 2 is to the Xbox/Xbox360. Remember how Microsoft fanatics constantly boasted of the incredible graphics and download capabilities of the Xbox when it 1st arrived? But what happened? I’ll tell you what- look at the PS2 section in any game store as compared to the Xbox section. People want fun. They wanted games and the Sony had them! As a result, the PlayStation 2 continued to cream the Xbox in sales. Much like the PS2, the DS has far more enjoyable games than its competitor. It may not match the PSP performance wise, but it’s lil’ library of games has got people screaming “Viva DS!” Not to mention that the DS is cheaper, has a nice amount of memory and great batterie life. Thus, the DS continues to massacre the PSP in sales. The PSP, on the other hand, could compete with the DS in sales if Sony lowered their prices and put out more decent, affordable games. But then again we could all pray for world peace- doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
Don’t get me wrong, people. I’d choose a PSP hand held over a DS any day. But i’d buy DS stocks in a heart beat! LOL

  14. Shaka Says:

Yah the PSP is just better.

Recent news show PSP already sold more then 20 million PSP’s world wide while the USA is the strong point for the sales ,Japan is the weakest.
