BF2 Patch 1.4 Delayed

August 17th, 2006
bf2 logoEA issued a statement saying the long awaited, and much needed patch 1.4, has been delayed. The decision was made just before the scheduled launch, when they realized there were some stability issues. Patch 1.4 is (hopefully) going to fix a number of issues, the server browser, game crashes, and most importantly locating and removing glitches. A beta patch has been leaked, and EA warns user not to use it since it could “compromise your system”.

We’ve received some criticism for giving EA and Battlefield 2 a hard time (like here, here, and here), however, the game has been out for some 15 months, and there are still stability issues and random game crashes. As early as yesterday, I tried to play a round on Karkand, and it crashed. I gave up and played CS:Source.

It doesn’t make things better now that developer DICE is obviously focusing most of their efforts on the new Battlefield 2142, scheduled for release later this year.
