Review Roundup: Call Of Duty 3
The Call of Duty series are among the best WW2 shooters ever made, with Call of Duty 2 being one of the most popular Xbox360 multiplayer titles, only surpassed by Halo 2. The third installment, Call of Duty 3, delivers the same intense multiplayer experience, but according to many reviewers, it fails on the single player level.
IGN (88/100) “Its one of the best looking titles on 360 and the multiplayer mode is a welcome addition. What keeps the score slightly below the last installment is the nearly identical gameplay and stiff competition within the genre.”
GameSpot (88/100) “From start to finish, Call of Duty 3 is an intense experience and a great game. The visuals are fantastic and the sound is some of the best in any game to date.”
Boomtown (80/100) “The scope for large online battles and some great fun action in the single-player mode make this a worthwhile purchase. Fans of Call of Duty 2 will really have a lot of fun with it. But Call of Duty 3 could have and should have, been better than this.”
Eurogamer (70/100) “If you’re only interested in the offline game and have maybe had your fill of WWII action, then Call of Duty 3 won’t be for you. It’s too stuck in its ways to provide any meaningful progression to the genre, and of the changes it has made to the gameplay, frankly none of them are worth getting excited about.”
1UP (65/100) “Strengthened with vehicles and support for up to 24 players, the online multiplayer comes in strong enough to save face for the series, but that pales as compensation for the disappointing single-player game.”
