Major Nelson, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, released the new Xbox Live activity chart for the past week. He announced that Gears of War knocked off Halo 2 as the top played Xbox Live game, a feat that no other game could manage to do for 2 years. Halo 2 released in North America on November 9th, 2004, and remained the top played Xbox Live game ever since. This is a huge accomplishment for the developers of Gears of War, Epic Games, and signifies Gears of War as a game that will remain in many Xbox360′s for a while to come.
