One of the most anticipated titles of the year, Nintendo’s Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii, has certainly impressed a lot of reviewers, as it successfully continues down the same path as Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the N64, hailed as one of the greatest games ever made.
GameSpy (100/100) “Get over the fact that the Wii’s hardware is simply not as powerful as the other next-gen machines and get into the fact that Twilight Princess is one of the best games you’ll play this year.”
1UP (100/100) “It’s not a reinvention of the genre like Ocarina was — but it’s much better, because it takes all its predecessors’ raw ideas, perfects them, and creates an experience that’s at once new and familiar. It’s rare to find a launch game that truly justifies the purchase of a new console, but this is precisely that.“
GameInformer (100/100) “There really is no better introduction to a new console, or a better game for that matter, than Twilight Princess. This is the game of the year.“
IGN (95/100) “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is, in my opinion, the greatest Zelda game ever created and one of the best launch titles in the history of launch titles – second only, perhaps, to the at-the-time ground-breaking Super Mario 64.”
GameSpot (88/100) “You’ll almost certainly enjoy the game for its terrific puzzles, colorful characters, and compelling story, but at some point the feeling of nostalgia crosses the line and holds this game back from being as unbelievably good as some of its predecessors.”

2Well Gamestop sure surprised the hell out of me. After giving Gears a 9.6 this just seems out of whack. Maybe they like Graphics over gameplay … sure seems that way to me. They must not be looking at the length and imagination of TP campaign compared to Gears that is certain.

4Agree Anuban… compare generic big dude shoot ugly alien with big gun to Zelda is a joke… they also gave 8.4 to Cal Of Duty 3, so it’s almost as good as Zelda??? I have a doubt…

7I have yet to play a 100/100 game and I won gears
I think people are getting to liberal with these scores
i think Gears deserves a 85-90/100
When I get my wii i will not be surprised when this game doesnt live up to its overzealous reviewers either.
(I am no fanboy just a realist)

9I don’t know how big a gaming website they are, but a reveiwer at gamerz-edge.com gave Zelda TP for Wii a perfect score and stated that this was the first time in his six years of reviewing games that he gave a perfect score.

10“Actually the GameSpot review mentions the great graphics Twilight Princess has, what drags it does is the audio and lack of innovation.”
Gamespot is wierd. Everyone else is saying just about the exact opposite. They are saying that the innovative controls work so well that it is unthinkable to go back to the traditional configuration. As well, they are noting that the graphics suffer a bit in some cases. For many reviewers, the small graphics problems are overwhelmed by great gameplay and epic storyline. That is why there are so many perfect scores down the line.

13I’m trying not to read anything about this game or hype it up like I did for other games, so I won’t be let down.

14And I thought the controller would hold the game back but apparently I was wrong. This should be a no brainer if your getting a Wii. The Gears Of War reviews 2me were a little biased and over rated. It is not a perfect game and it is not up the ranks of Zelda or Halo. I think game of the year belongs to Twilight Princess or Gears. I’m not 2 sure. I can’t wait to see what the best selling game this holiday season is gonna be.

15Wow. Perfect scores.
Gamespot: Since when was nostalgia a bad thing?
A game that brings back personal memories and emotions is a piece of art.

16I’ve seen other Gamespot reviews of Wii games and their not all that good either. Red Steel goa 5.5 and Excite Truck was a 6.something. Zelda was the best reviewed game there. The rest were 7.5 and below.
