Blue Dragon To Ship On Three DVDs
November 21st, 2006 by Steve Reddish in News
Blue Dragon producer Hironobu Sakaguchi has revealed to Japanese magazine Famitsu that the Xbox360 RPG Blue Dragon, even with compression, will be shipped with three DVD’s, since one DVD could not hold all that they wanted in the game. If uncompressed, Sakaguchi says, the game would take up 30 Gigabytes of space. Blue Dragon should last the average gamer around 40-50 hours. Sakaguchi has also confirmed that there will be a sequel to Blue Dragon.
Blue Dragon took three years to make, and is expected to draw in the Japanese market to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, something that Microsoft hasn’t been able to do since it released the Xbox in Japan years back. The game is expected to do so well over there because Hironobu Sakaguchi is the creator of the Final Fantasy series. Blue Dragon is an Xbox 360 exclusive and is going to be released on December 7th in Japan. No word yet on a North American and European release.

Sweet! I missed those days when RPGs on the PS1 had 3 or 4 discs. I only wish I hadn’t lost that Lunar 2 disc one.

Maybe there is something to the storage capacity argument Sony has been putting up?

3 discs??!! that’s alot of space to take up. hopefully, this will make for some stunning visuals in the game. still, 3 discs? sounds to me like blue ray may someday own RPG’s.

Remember when they said that Gears would run on 4 discs? Well look how that turned out. Multiple discs is nothing new if you’re a fan of RPGs. It’s really no big of a deal as long as Blue Dragon delivers (which I believe will) then you won’t mind the extra discs to put in your 360. If it is 3 discs then you know your gonna get a lot of hours of gaming.

I’m not possitive that selling this after the release of Princess was a good idea.
