Wii-like PC

November 29, 2006

shuttle_xpc_x100.jpgPC maker Shuttle has just released a rather Wii-looking ultra small PC, named XPC X100. The shape and size is a lot like the Nintendo Wii, and it even features the same type of CD/DVD drive. The PC is powered either by an Intel Celeron M or the more powerful Core Duo CPU, up to 2 GB RAM and a standard hard drive. The graphics are powered by a Radeon X1400, so all in all the X100 is far more powerful than the Wii, but it will set you back anywhere from $800 to $1000.

More info on the official site.

Doesn’t play Zelda Twilight Princess and doesn’t have the Wii-mote, so I’ll stick with buying the Wii :)

Damn, a 1000 bucks… Nothing costing that much must not be asociated with the Wii in any way. $1000… gimme a break. You can get a MacBook for that money, which is about 3-4 times as powerful.

Someone’s ripping off the Mac mini!

    Heating problems?

  5. Quartecks Says:

That thing looks kind of ugly, the scheme doesn’t work as well as with the Wii.

@Quartecks, not really rip off of the Mac mini, because Shuttle have been making small PC’s for years. Grow up.

Hi everyone, I’m trying to sell some CafePress.com items so I can make some money to buy myself a Nintendo DS. I haven’t been able to buy a new console since Nintendo 64 and I would be really happy if this Christmas I can get a Nintendo DS.

Hmmm, I can definitely see how this can be a competitor to Mac Mini. Same prices - similarities in hardware specs…

  12. Dave Says:

This has been out for at least a month and a half now. It was not modelled after the Wii, although it is a similar size and design.

My experience with Shuttle motherboards and products has been relatively good.
There seems to be quality hump. There is a failure rate but if you get the product over the first month they seem to be quite reliable products http://www.aceemploymentservices.net

  14. booger Says:

It resembles a wii because it is a BOX? A rectangular BOX stood on its side? This is poor reporting.

  15. Zac Says:

Yeah the size/shape. Also that it uses the same disk-feeding method.
