Xbox 360 HD Movie Service Rivals Amazon’s

January 4th, 2007
xbox360_download.jpg It appears that users are finding the ability to download and watch HD movies from a console, much more accessible than having to burn movies to discs, as they would have to do with Amazon’s service. Even though the Xbox 360 is has slow download times, and less titles, it appears that the idea of doing it all from the couch is appealing to consumers. The report also suggests that users of the marketplace are so eager to get HD content, that even box office flops are selling well.

“If you look at our sales charts, movies like The Perfect Storm, Unforgiven and Swordfish are all doing disproportionately better than you would expect, and the only explanation is that they’re available in HD,” Said Ross Honey, senior director for media at Microsoft.

One of the major drawbacks is that the fairly small hard drive of the Xbox 360 can’t store that many HD movies and shows. However, users have the ability to delete and download the content again at a later time without additional fees.
