childsplay.jpgIn totally awesome news, Penny Arcade creators Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik announced that Child’s Play Charity, a gamer-oriented charity program, has raised over $1 million in purchases and donations this year. The program, which is in its fourth year now, sees people donating money and gifts to be sent to children in select hospitals throughout the world, proving that gamers aren’t the mindless idiots some certain people imply.

They also revealed the happenings at the Child’s Play auction dinner, which saw quite a few interesting auctions to further help the cause. Up for bids was an appearance in a Penny Arcade comic strip ($10,000); a Wii signed by Reggie Fils-Aime ($3,700); an Xbox 360 signed by J Allard ($1,200); and a voiceover line in Halo 3 ($9,000), among many others. The auction raised more than $210,000 in total.
