DigitalBattle was present at Capcom’s Lost Planet launch event, marking the North American launch of the anticipated third-person shooter. The crowd was a lot larger than I had expected it to be, and the noise level was pretty amazing as well. People of all types were at the launch and it truly was a great sight to see everyone talking about gaming and getting along so well. Just about every demographic over the age of 18 was represented, and San Francisco could not have been a better place for such an event to take place. Full story inside.

The atmosphere among the gamers was equally impressive as there were plenty of gaming stations setup for gamers to play Lost Planet and they were all full. People were waiting patiently for their chance to play and everyone was very polite. The buzz that I kept hearing was that the gameplay and graphics were very well received, and many people were comparing the graphics very favorably to Gears of Wars. I went around and around and kept my ears open and I did not hear one bit of harsh criticism about the game. From the amount of people intensely playing to those watching on with smiles and excited looks on their faces, you could tell that this game is definitely going to be greeted with open arms by most fans of the shooter genre. Not one person looked bored during my entire time covering the launch, which is always a pleasant thing.

All in all the launch event appeared to go very well and I am certain that this bodes very well for the game. I am looking forward to more Capcom launch events of this caliber, events filled with lots of gaming energy. The best type of energy you can find at these type of events. In fact this launch actually felt like a big get together of friends out having dinner and drinks and fun just hanging out gaming and having laughs. In the end it definitely appears that Capcom has another winner on their hands. Judging by the event, at least.
