Capcom Spent $20 Million On Lost Planet Marketing

If you’ve wondered how come a mediocre game like Lost Planet sold a million copies so fast, just take a look at the huge marketing budget Capcom had. They spent $20 million developing the game, and then spent another $20 million promoting the game. That made Lost Planet appear all over the news and media, especially around launch time. Last year Capcom had revenues of $600 million and profits of $58 million. Their major market is still Japan, but recent titles like Resident Evil 4, Dead Rising and Lost Planet, all sold over a million copies in North America, making Capcom a big player in the west as well.
