GameStop: Wii Shortage is Intentional
Even after four months, many of us still havn’t been able to find a Wii in stock anywhere. Whenever a shipment is announced, there are lines, and they are instantly sold out. Dan Matteo, Chief Operating Officer of GameStop, said that Nintendo is holding back on Wii shipments on purpose.
“I think [Nintendo] intentionally dried up supply because they made their numbers for the year. The new year starts April 1, and I think we’re going to see supply flowing.”
Matteo adds that those gamers that still haven’t been able to get their hand on a Wii will be finding more in stock begining April. He also said that the European PS3 launch was very good and speculates that a PS2 price drop is inevitable.
