Comic Scribe to Pen Area 51 Film
Variety reports that Grant Morrison, the best-selling comic book and graphic novel author, has been hired to pen the film adaptation of Area 51. Morrison is known best for his revision of Justice League of America, Animal Man, New X-Men, and most importantly, Arkham Asylum, which has sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide.
The film rights for the Area 51 film was picked up by Paramount Pictures in 2004, though no movie plans have been revealed until now. Christine Peters will produce the film, with Penn Station’s Dean Georgaris, Michael Aguilar and Stan Winston.
The movie will be set in the titular top-secret military facility where a hazardous materials specialist is brought in to investigate a viral outbreak to determine whether it is alien or not. Though the movie has no release date at the moment, Midway will release Blacksite: Area 51 this Summer.
