Japanese Software Sales (June 17)

June 25th, 2007
Don’t bother pinching yourself, a 360 title has broken the top ten list of software sales in Japan, not only that, it’s actually score second place. Let’s put this into perspective. A 360 game just sold more than Wii Sports, Wii Play, Brain Age or even the Brain Age sequel. Yes a training game still claimed the top spot, so the world isn’t completing ending, but it’s actually really exciting to see the 360 finding a place in the market. I for one hope this isn’t the end of Microsoft’s efforts in Japan. Keep producing great Japan RPGs. Even though we have to wait, we reap the benefit as well in the long run.

Considering only 400 thousand units roughly to date have been sold in Japan, 10% of 360 owners have just purchased the game this week. DS Observation may be more popular, but only 1.2% of Japanese Ds owners have picked up the game to date, and it’s not even the first week. I think Namco can declare a victory with such a great ratio, and start to work on their next 360 project.
