Unreal Tournament 3 Detailed

July 5th, 2007

The Official Xbox Magazine has already arrived for some lucky subscribers (not I), who have been treated with a great video documentary about upcoming title Unreal Tournament 3. The video details quite a few of the maps used in the game, as well as showcasing vehicles and some familiar locations with a new facelift. The most interesting details within the documentary is the developer decision to either create large worlds which could support up to 64 players, but that in the end, it didn’t feel like Unreal Tournament when it was on such a huge scale.

The documentary claims the title will feature in upwards of 3-4 dozen different maps. That’s between 36-48 for anyone too lazy to do the quick conversion. Of course, the single player version will feature even more locations to visit. In an age when it’s all too easy to churn out a title quickly, it’s good to see a developer really putting forth the effort, and providing enough content that no one could get bored with the product too easily. It’ll certainly be a feat to master all the locations, and will take some time getting used to.

Finally, lighting seems to have been resolved, with every player having lights attached to them, so if this was a personal frustration of yours with the previous titles, you can return happy knowing it has been solved.
