Rumor: Rockband Goes Exclusive for 360
Game|Life’s Chris Kohler has been kind enough to share his invitation with us for the upcoming Rockband party hosted by Electronic Arts, by none other than E3. Of course, nothing is confirmed at this time, but you can sure bet we’ll know one way or another by Wednesday when the official Rockband party takes off. The reason his invitation is so interesting all comes down to a lack of certain logo’s of involved companies. Harmonix, MTV, 360, all the companies you’d expect would be involved with the project are there, except two. No where on the invite is the company logos for the PS3 or for that matter the Wii. While it was still up in the air whether the Wii would be receiving Rock Band sooner rather than later, the PS3 was supposed to be receiving the title at the same time. That is up until now.
There have been a few rumors floating around about the title becoming 360 exclusive, but this completely fuels the fire. Guitar Hero 2 was one of the highest grossing titles of the last quarter, if not this whole year. With only some Nintendo branded products like Pokemon able to topple the giant. Rock Band no doubt will follow in the footsteps, and is without a doubt a smart move to grab an exclusive deal for. Of course, this becomes slightly muted if Guitar Hero 3 is going to be multi platform. We’ll have to wait an see, but at this rate, 360 is snatching all the third party titles you could possibly want to buy. At least Nintendo still has their arsenal of first party titles, the PS3 not so much.
