Epic Games’ Mark Rein just announced at the Midway conference that mods for the PC version of Unreal Tournament 3 will be able to “come over” to the PS3. By the way, when Sony said Unreal Tournament 3 was PS3 exclusive, they meant console-wise. The PC version will ship this November along with the PS3 version

“We think it will enhance the console gaming experience in a way no one has ever seen before.”

Since modifying games was made both easy and popular by the Unreal series, this could have enormous potential. As of now, we’re unsure whether this will affect the Xbox 360. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Note: The 1Up podcast has confirmed that this feature should be showing up in the 360 version next year in some way, shape, or form.

The basic principle in Fable was that everything you did affected your character. By the looks of what has been revealed, Fable 2 bring that to the next level. Fable 2′s combat system was shown off at E3 today, and it boasts the same ingenuity that the original Fable was renowned for. The melee combat is the primary revelation. Rather than using combos, the combat is mapped solely to the X button. To perform combo moves, the player follows a certain rhythm by pressing X when the drum beats. Like all things in the game, the combat is adaptive and is influenced by the character. This basically means that your character will fight differently in different environments or if she, or he, is in different positions.

G4 decided to broadcast the E3 press conferences live via television. Many fans were excited about this, and tuned in to watch. Although, near the end of the telecast, the video capture feed panned out of the video and got a picture of the television screen. Now, there are random people talking in the background and someone decided to say “You guys enjoying this?” and boom, the feed cuts to a commercial break before the trailer isn’t even done.

There are several theories about this online, such as the commentator is the host Adam Sessler warning fans that the video is about to be cut off, and the person whispering in the background is trying to get them not to put the commercial break on. It’s a pity that G4 offered something like this to its viewers and weren’t able to finish the broadcast. In addition to this, commercials aired during the broadcast, making people miss a bunch of the conference. It’s always good to just keep things online, guys.

There are very few games on the PS3 I find attractive. I admit, having never owned a Playstation makes me immediately biased, as I simply haven’t been exposed to a lot of the franchises that so many have simply grown up on. This is the exception to the rule. I would buy the system solely for this title, but since the price drop didn’t come in higher than 100 dollars, I’ll mark the system as too expensive for the moment. Is this a system seller? Absolutely yes.

We can finally rest easy with both Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. having official release dates of November 12th and December 3rd respectively. Smash Bros by and large is still a big mystery as far as a lot of the content go, there were a few key questions I had about Galaxy. Would Mario be stuck in outer space, or would there be more large land based levels, and even indoors? All questions can be laid to rest with this trailer, it’s truly shaping up to be a sequel to Mario 64 and will undoubtedly be a holiday system seller (not that the Wii really needs one!).

Sony briefly went over six of fifteen key exclusive 1st party games that are coming to the Playstation 3. Below are the six that they talked about.

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction – Looks to be an explosive addition to the Ratchet and Clank series.

Folklore - This appears to be an RPG Adventure game as it was hard to gather more from the footage.

Heavenly Sword- This game seems to flow kind of like God of War, tons of action and a strong looking plot.

NBA 08 – NBA Basketball game for the 2008 season with interesting options like custom player made 1v1 matches.

LittleBigPlanet – A fun multilayer game with loads of customization and sharing among the user base.

Uncharted Drake’s Fortune – A great looking Action Adventure game from Naughty Dog.

Unreal Tournament will be a PS3 exclusive, just as Jack Tretton said during the Sony press event, but he didn’t mention that it was coming to the PC as well, in 2007. Xbox 360 owners will apparently have to wait until next year.

Unreal Tournament 3 will ship with a map editor for the PC version (as expected), and PS3 owners will be able to download and play maps and mods that PC players have made, which is pretty cool, to say the least. There wasn’t any mention of cross-platform play (PC vs. PS3 players), and it’s unlikely that it will happen (otherwise they would show it off by now).
