NPD: Canadian Sales For June 2007
We get to reflect on Japan charts weekly, and a lot of focus usually falls with the NPD numbers for the US once a month. Something that doesn’t always get the limelight is Canadian sales. For those of us in the great white north, these topsy-turvy numbers explain some of the trends we are seeing at retail. Seriously, how strange could these numbers be? Well, the Nintendo DS does not have the top spot in sales, and the GBA is currently beating out a Next Gen console on a month-to-month basis. The Wii takes the top spot with 53,000 units and the DS follows with 45,700. Less surprising, the PS2 and PSP have middle of the road figures with 21,000 and 18,500 each. Microsoft is lower still having 13,500, which may seem slightly frightening. But the craziest figure of all has GBA sitting solidly with 8,800 unit a month, and PS3 trailing with a mere 6,500.
That probably explains why PS3′s are collecting dust, and it’s still impossible to locate a Wii without waiting for their shipment! Thankfully for Sony, their entire empire does not depend solely on Canada. Software rankings after the jump, I’m sure you won’t be too shocked to learn half of the top ten belongs to the Wii:
1. Mario Party 8–Wii
2. Wii Play with Wii Remote–Wii
3. Pokémon Diamond–DS
4. Value Pack (included games vary)–Xbox
5. Forza Motorsport 2–Xbox 360
6. Pokémon Pearl–DS
7. Guitar Hero II with guitar–Xbox 360
8. Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition–Wii
9. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess–Wii
10. Super Paper Mario–Wii
