American NPD June Numbers Released

On July 24th, 2007 in Uncategorized -

Just a few short days ago we were graced with the Canadian numbers for the month June. Needless to say things were extremely interesting for several of the consoles. While the Nintendo DS still holds fast to the top spot in America and will likely stay that way, the GBA outsells last place PS3.

It’s important to note all numbers are inflated, as this was one of the five-week periods used in collecting data. The interesting data will really come next month when we find out if the PS3 price cut made much of a difference.

Nintendo DS: 561,000
Wii: 381,780
PlayStation Portable: 290,100
PlayStation 2: 270,760
Xbox 360: 198,440
Game Boy Advance: 113,870
PlayStation 3: 98,470

Continue reading on for the software charts.

The Wii preformed nearly as formidably as in Canada with 4 of the top ten software sales. Whoever said well done ports and mature titles couldn’t sell on the Wii need only look as far as Resident Evil 4, which cracked into the top ten positions. Meanwhile, casual aimed title Big Brain Academy that released earlier in June only made it to spot number 19. Perhaps casual games aren’t always guaranteed best sellers.

Mario Party 8 (Wii)
Wii Play w/remote (Wii)
Pokémon Diamond (DS)
Pokémon Pearl (DS)
Forza Motorsport 2 (Xbox 360)
Guitar Hero II w/guitar (PS2)
Guitar Hero II w/guitar (Xbox 360)
