Halo 2 Tournament Under Fire

On July 26th, 2007 in Uncategorized -

David Walsh, the president of NIMF (National Institute on Media and the Family) is criticising a Halo 2 tournament being held by the public Llibrary of Mount Prospect, which is north west of Chicago. Walsh’s arguement, of course, is centered around the fact that Halo 2 is rated M.

“I think it’s a mistake from top to bottom. I think it borders on irresponsibility for a public library to sponsor an activity for kids as young as 12 that the industry itself has said is for adults.”

Originally the library wasn’t even aware that Halo 2 is rated M. When it did find out however, it took drastic measures- by requiring permission slips for kids to enter. Of course the Library supports it’s decision claiming that teenagers gain interest in going to the library becuase of the tournamnets (the library hosted a Halo: Combat Evolved tounrnament last January).
