Blizzard Sued in China Over Fonts

Blizzard is under fire in China, according to China Daily who reports that Founder Electronics is suing the US Company over alleged copyright infringement of its fonts. The company alleges that the World of Warcraft developer and its Chinese operator The9 have used their font without proper authorization in the popular MMORPG.

Founder Electronics is the nation’s largest supplier of fonts and has developed hundreds of fonts that are used widely throughout the country, including its major newspapers. It is asking for compensation of 100 million yuan for the infringement, claiming that it has caused them to suffer a loss of 1 billion yuan.

Blizzard is yet to comment on the story.
