New York Times Unimpressed With Halo 3
Despite the game reportedly earning approximately $170 on launch day, the New York Time’s Charles Herold states the third Halo is just Halo 2 with better graphics.
Halo 3 is Halo 2 with somewhat better graphics.
That’s all you really need to know. If you loved Halo 2, you will feel just the same about Halo 3. If you played Halo 2 and couldn’t figure out what all the fuss was about, Halo 3 is not the revelatory experience that will change your view of the series forever.
It doesn’t stop there; Mr.Herold states that the equipment adds no depth to the experience. He even goes as far as to say that the game’s plot is a short, predictable “throwaway” story. Fortunately, he wasn’t bold enough to insult Halo 3′s multiplayer.
The article doesn’t state any solid reasons why Halo 3 isn’t a great game, it just seems to go against the grain for the sake of it. Of course, I highly doubt Charles Herold will actually dissuade anyone’s decision to purchase the game.
