Manhunt 2 Could be Released as Digital Download in UK

On October 25th, 2007 in Uncategorized -

The Manhunt 2 saga continues with word that the game might be released in the UK as a digital download, as the format is not covered by the country’s law. Apparently there is a loophole in the UK’s 1984 Video Recordings Act, which does not cover digital mediums, letting publishers push out titles without getting any age classifications from BBFC.

A BBFC spokesperson has confirmed that Take-Two Interactive, the game’s publisher, can choose to sell the game via digital download services and that it will not be illegal. However, it is not yet known whether Take-Two will exploit the opportunity, as no comments from the company or Rockstar were available on the matter.

Manhunt 2 has been denied classification twice in the country, though it has been re-rated M in the US and is set for release on October 31 on PS2, PSP and Wii.
