History of Video Games Exhibit in Boston

October 30th, 2007

The Federal Reserve Bank Of Boston’s Economic Adventure Gallery is hosting an exhibit this fall on the history of video games. Called “Video Games Evolve: A Brief History from Spacewar! to MMORPGs” this interactive exhibit takes visitors through the history of video games from their humble grassroots beginnings in MIT and New Hampshire to the massive powerhouse that the industry is today. It also sheds some light on how video games are made as well as how science, technology and art all come together in the industry. There is a timeline on the history of video games and a documentation of the history of consoles and home gaming.  Curious patrons can also get an in-depth look into how motion capture works and is used in creating the models and animations for video games. After checking out all the historic exhibitions why not go back in time by play arcade classics such as “Donkey Kong” , “Ms. Pac-Man”, “Frogger” and “Space Invaders”? Unfortunately for the weekend traveler the exhibit is only open from 1:00-4:00pm Monday through Friday.
