This week’s Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday can be called ‘puzzle’ day as two new games from the genre are being released on the service – Switchball and Word Puzzle. Both will sell for 800 Microsoft points.

The Sierra Online-published Switchball require players to alter the properties of their ball to clear obstacles, which Microsoft calls “physics-based death traps”. It will feature five environments, two-player online co-op and eight-player racing.

Meanwhile, Word Puzzle will offer a “whole host of synapse melting challenges,” according to Microsoft. There will be five different game modes, offering up to four to engage in local or online multiplayer. The developer Interserv promises an abundance of downloadable word packs to keep the action fresh.
