No DVD Wii This Year

Unfortunately anyone buying a Wii this holiday season will have to be content with playing games, browsing the internet, voting on things nobody cares about and checking the weather. The DVD-capable Wii hasn’t been cancelled, it just won’t be out until some time next year. Nintendo has cited a need to keep up with the demand for the console this holiday season and that starting production on a new version of the console would slow things down. However since I don’t think I know anyone who owns a Wii and doesn’t have a DVD player as well it’s unlikely that this will seriously cut into Nintendo’s profits this holiday season.
