Smash Bros. Update: Handicap
There’s nothing more frustrating than playing against an opponent in a game and having little to no chance for victory. That’s why the creators of the Smash Bros. games have included a handicap setting to ensure that everyone can be on equal footing. In previous games the handicap reduced the amount of damage you or your opponent could deal. In the upcoming Wii version of the game the handicap will work a little differently. Before the match you’ll be able to set your handicap to a multiple of ten. Whatever level you set it at is the percentage of damage your character will start off with. Even after you’re smashed off the screen you’ll respawn with the same damage amount every time. If you’ve got a group and aren’t sure of everyone’s skill level there is an auto handicap feature, which will gradually increase the handicap of the winner of each match, which will get everyone competing on an even keel.
