Koei announced today that the next installment in the tactical action franchise Dynasty Warriors will be shipping to North America starting February 19th of next year. This will be the sixth version of the popular massive battle game, although as with all other versions this one will just be retelling the same general story. The next-gen title will implement some new features into the gameplay allowing for a more immersive, truly tactical experience. Players will be able to use a new ‘Renbu’ attack system where your attack power and skills increase with effective performance on a level but reset after the battle. The RPG-esque nature of character development is increased as well. Each character will have a branching skill tree with different paths. Players will also be able to swim and climb in the game which will make fording rivers to a new side of the battlefield and scaling the walls of locked castles possible. Bodyguards have been eliminated in favor of horses that you can call to your aid and improve over time. With re-designed characters and improved gameplay this title should please fans of the series and newcomers on both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
