CG Scifi Movie Planned, Tie In Game Announced

On November 27th, 2007 in Uncategorized -

New Line studios has picked up an upcoming computer-generated science fiction comedy film that takes some cliches of the genre and tilts them on their head. Entitled ‘Planet 51′ the movie will portray a human astronaut who lands on a planet full of aliens terrified of an invasion from space. After his arrival seems to prove their deepest fear true he must regain his spaceship and escape with the help of a local. Once again we’ll be seeing a tie-in-game which will most likely be a platformer appealing to the much younger audience. Given the fact that the game will be released on pretty much every available console we’re most likely looking at yet another attempt to extract profits from gullible parents and gamers with a shoddy video game. With New Line already planning a mobile game as well as a toy and merchandise blitz, it’s not likely we’ll have much hope of seeing a polished genuinely enjoyable game out of this arrangement.
