Games that Should Get a Sequel – Part 1066
I have become wary of top-five or top-ten lists that chronicle the games that deserve a sequel or haven’t had a sequel made yet. Although I ignored this at first, a quick read revealed the author’s subtle intentions of listing a couple of games that will most probably never ever – I am stressing ever – get a sequel, though they were pretty good games to begin with. Here’s a snippet from his portion on Freedom Fighters, a third-person action game developed by the dudes at Io Interactive, the makers of the recently released Kane & Lynch.
Now this was a game that EA actually got right. It was Freedom Fighters that really introduced the concept of tactical third-person shooter to gamers, and later inspired games like Full Spectrum Warrior, Gears of War and the recent Kane & Lynch (that is actually far from being a worthy successor, even though it was created by the same IO Interactive).
The tactical component was very well implemented and assigning orders to your squad members actually made you feel like you were in control. Each situation had to be thought carefully because an all-out attack was never an option, and every success gave you a feeling of accomplishment and pride, because well, you had masterminded everything.
Yes, I know I asked this question before, but what games do you really want to experience again through a sequel?
