650,000 Wiis Sold In Two Weeks

November 28th, 2007
Recently we haven’t heard as much holiday uproar about one particular item like the Tickle Me Elmo dolls and Furbys inspired in past years. Although we’re not hearing the same horror stories of Walmart fights and shopping mall frenzies, the Wii is definitely dominating video game sales this holiday season. Nintendo of America reported that as of yesterday it had sold over 650,000 consoles in a mere two weeks. Despite the factories churning out over 1.8 million per month the consoles just won’t stay on the shelves for long. Reggie Fils-Aime (NOA’s President) reportedly spent his weekend going to random stores to see if he could find any in stock and was happily daunted at every turn. Unfortunately nobody told Mr. Fils-Aime that calling the stores would likely be a much more expedient way of checking their stock. With consoles going for up to $700 on EBay thus far it’s safe to say this holiday season will be a good one for Nintendo.
