EA: Rock Band Sells “Hundreds of Thousands”

While no exact numbers were given, EA revealed that Rock Band has sold “hundreds of thousands” of copies over the Thanksgiving weekend. “Literally every box we made,” continued John Riccitiello, EA CEO. In comparison, the game’s main rival Guitar Hero 3 has racked up $115 million in sales during its first week in stores.
Rock Band is the newest game by Harmonix, who builds on its own Guitar Hero series adding drums and vocals, offering a full band experience both online and offline. The game is already available on PS3 and Xbox 360; it is also expected to be released later this month on PS2.
