Wii Version Of Rock Band Not In The Cards

On January 2nd, 2008 in Uncategorized -

I’ve been having a lot of fun with Rock Band recently, but it seems that Nintendo console owners will not be participating in Rock Band anytime soon. Despite a quote earlier this year that was passed around from Alex Rigopulos, the CEO of Harmonix that there would “absolutely” be a possibility for a Wii version of Rock Band, that no longer seems to be the case. Or at least folks at EA aren’t as enthusiastic.

“EA’s Bryce Baer today said that EA maintains that there are no current plans for a Wii version at this time — despite the feature lacking PS2 version already seeing a release.”

On one hand it’s understandable why a simultaneous release did no occur. EA is having issues as it is producing the game, to create another version would open up a whole ‘nother can of worms. But to outright deny it as a possibility at this point seems foolish. Personally, given the choice Rock Band is actually one of the few only games I’ve taken advantage of paid DLC for. So that would be a deal breaker, but as mentioned previously, it certainly didn’t stop them from hitting up the PS2.

Hopefully EA will smarten up and give Wii owners a piece of the Rock Band pie.
