Those looking to join their favorite video game companies may want to start in a different sector first. According to Gamasutra, Sony Online Entertainment has hired former AP journalist Matt Slagle as its new PR manager at its Austin studio. Slagle has worked with the news agency as National Technology and Business reporter for over a decade, leading the company’s national video game coverage as well as keeping in contact with and interviewing major industry figures.

Slagle was happy, to say the least. “Transitioning over to SOE creates a unique opportunity to apply my interests and expertise in the video game industry,” he commented. “As a lifelong gamer who has made a career out of covering the business, I’m looking forward to working on brands as large and influential as the games created by Sony Online.”

The Austin studio is working on DC Universe and Star Wars Galaxies.
