Duke Nukem 3D Coming To Live?
It seems that 3D Realms is finally making some progress on what must be one of the longest titles in development ever. With the brief teaser for Duke Nukem Forever having been released, they’re probably finding out that many gamers who loved the original Duke Nukem games are likely more interested in other games or maybe have given up on gaming entirely due to the unfortunate intrusions of real life. It seems someone has come up with what could be an effective way of getting older gamers back into the Duke’s corner and snaring younger gamers. Sources have revealed that 3D Realms is creating a re-tooled version of the classic FPS Duke Nukem 3d for Xbox Live. While the title is almost twelve years old, it was a hugely influential game for its time, featuring innovations like jetpacks, trip wires and even the ability to actually look up and down. With some occasionally bizarre weapons (including a shrink ray that then allows you to squish your opponents via your boots) and a tongue-in-cheek approach to the wisecracking action hero persona, the game is still considered a classic by many. Those of us waxing nostalgic will be happy to hear that the game will also sport a four-player cooperative mode via Xbox Live and there are rumors that up to eight players will be able to group together for a wisecracking, cigar smoking, bomb-tossing deathmatch.
