Activision Jumps 10% Of Market Share In 2007

Nintendo might be one of the most obvious companies for reaping the software and hardware rewards hand over first in the last few years, but another company seems to be coming along for the ride, taking on giant publisher EA for the gauntlet. Activision’s market share has increased over 10% from 7.2% in 2006 to a current 17.7% for the year of 2007. Obviously, this in due in part to having two of the highest grossing franchises of the year. Call of Duty 4 and Guitar Hero 2, 3 and even Rock the 80′s generated millions and millions of software sales for the company.
What’s even scarier, is that now being teamed with Blizzard, the huge corporation is starting to look unstoppable. Its hard to say for sure what Activision will look like in 2008, but with several more Guitar Hero games on the way, as well as other additions to franchises, as long as the consumers don’t tire, the company should continue to roll on. This was obviously the most profitable year for the 16-year-old company, and the first time Activision has ever taken the number one spot.
