Blu-ray Dominating Market, Maybe Only Briefly

A week after Warner Bros. announced that they were going exclusively Blu-ray, things shifted dramatically in the favor of Sony’s format. While previously Blu-ray and HD-DVD split the market between them around 50-50, the NPD group reports that in the week following Warner Bros. announcement the market was almost completely dominated by Blu-ray, taking 90% of the sales. While the week could have been a complete statistical fluke, it still doesn’t bode well for HD-DVD.
