Duke Nukem Release Date “A Lie”

On February 7th, 2008 in Uncategorized -

When news website Next-Gen asked for confirmation on the late 2008 release date set for Duke Nukem Forever reported in the Dallas Business Journal, 3D Realms president Scott Miller said: “Quite simply, they are lying bastards and they know it”. The DBJ has since updated their story to say that the 2008 release date is ‘possible’. Despite the fact that Miller told the paper “We can’t make an official statement,” they took what they were told as a confirmation. Sadly this once again highlights the difference between specialized press and normal press. While a gaming journalist would hear a statement of “we’re aiming for a late 2008 release date” and expect delays which would more likely land the game in a mid-2009 release, a run of the mill journalist isn’t as familiar with the frequency of delays, setbacks and the sheer amount of polish time needed to create a quality game. Any experienced game journalist would also know that when it comes to Duke Nukem Forever, release dates are as tenuous as they come. There’s also no confirmation on what platform(s) the game will be released on.
