Capcom’s April Fools: Sheng Long in SF4

April 2nd, 2008

2378652588_555f7d6152_b In yet another April Fools gag, Capcom has revealed character art for the infamous Sheng Long on its official blog, stating that he will added as an unlockable character in Street Fighter 4. This comes from project manager Natsumi Shiozawa who issued details on the character’s appearance in the coming game.

Those who don’t get the joke will need a history lesson. The roots of it go back to 1992, when the character was introduced in EGM’s April issue as a secret boss in Street Fighter 2. According to the magazine, if the player could complete the game untouched while playing as Ryu, Sheng Long would replace M. Bison as the final boss. In this year’s April Fools post, Shiozawa stated similar conditions to unlock Sheng Long in SF4.

So, there you have it. Enjoy the joke.
