Side-Scrollers Hit Wii

turrican_poster_eiswuxe This week’s additions to the Wii Shop Channel are two classic side-scrolling action titles that let players blast and battle their way to a “thrilling climax,” among other things.

The first title is Fantasy Zone, a Sega Master System game for 500 Wii points. It lets players take command of the spaceship Opa-Opa and blast their way through various levels as you try to take out all the enemy bases in each stage. There are bosses to be defeated using various guns and bombs which can also be upgraded using points earned throughout the game.

Mega Turrican is the second title; it was originally a Sega Genesis game and is going for 800 Wii points. The player takes on the role of a soldier whose duty is to destroy the evil forces of the Machine (that has enslaved humanity) throughout the galaxy. Using weapons and power-ups like the Turrican Assault Suit and the Plasma Rope, players will plow through fifteen levels of chaos and destruction before reaching freedom.
