There’s nothing quite like a good fighting game. While many other games pile on features, context-sensitive control schemes and all sorts of bells and whistles, your basic fighting game hasn’t changed that much over the years. Not that this is a bad thing, various games have nailed the formula and just kept going. The Soul Calibur games is exactly one of these, spicing up the common hand-to-hand combat formula with each character wielding their own favored weapon(s). Three more characters have just been added to the roster for the upcoming Soul Calibur IV. Unfortunately they’re not as thrilling as the announcement of Yoda and Darth Vader, but long-time fans of the series will likely find a favorite character returning.

Talim, that petite, fast hitting character with her bladed tonfas will be returning of course. Along with her will be the massive and intimidating Rock, bearing the huge mace that he acquired upon his return to the series. Of course he’s still clad in animal skins, most notably a Rhinoceros head atop his own noggin. Joining them as always is of course the enigmatic, flag-wearing Yoshimitsu. Interestingly his flag bears a nautilus shell which closely matches his helmet.
