Publisher Sega had revealed release plans for its tactical RPG Valkyria Chronicles and action-RPG Alpha Protocol earlier this week at a press event. The company hopes to release Valkyria Chronicles this November in North America; it previously had a vague Fall release date. Meanwhile, Obsidian RPG Alpha Protocol is being projected for release during February 2009, reaffirming their previously ‘early 2009’ estimate.

Exclusive to the PS3, Valkyria Chornicles is set in a fictional version of 1930s Europe. Its combat combines a mix of tactical battle with real-time controls; it is being powered by Sega’s internally-developed CANVAS graphics engine.

In development at Obisidian for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, Alpha Protocol tells the story of a “talented young agent cast out by his government”. It will feature both guns-blazing and stealth gameplay, and will offer various ways of completing missions.
