Donnie Darko Dude as the Prince
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the upcoming film adaptation of the popular Prince of Persia franchise will be led by actor Jake Gyllenhaal in the titular role of the Prince. He will be joined by Gemma Arterton as the princess Tamina.
The movie will loosely follow the events of the Sands of Time trilogy, telling the story of a young prince called Dastan as he works to prevent a nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time and ruling the world.
Gyllenhaal is best known for his roles in Brokeback Mountain, Jarhead and Donnie Darko. While he may seem an unusual choice to many, having seen his films I believe he will be able to somehow pull it off.
The film will start shooting this July based on a script written by Jordan Mechner, who created the original Prince of Persia series back in 1989.
