X-Men Director Getting Into Game Movies
It appears that video games are a lucrative business for Hollywood now, as Variety reports that Brett Ratner – the director of such blockbusters as Rush Hour, X-Men – has launched Brett Ratner Brands, his own consultancy company. His first output was a pair of Risky Business-themed Guitar Hero commercials that aired during American Idol; he hopes to leverage this project established with Activision to make videogame movies.
“The games business is much more exciting than the movie business right now,” said Ratner, adding that he will be doing movies that come from videogames. Ratner also said that he now has access to the “Activision brain” and the people who create games for the number one publisher in North America.
Look forward to a Guitar Hero movie in the near future! (just kidding)
