The revelation of the fact that BioShock is on the PS3 may not bring much surprise, but the effort behind it is staggering to say the least. This post on the official PlayStation blog notes that the game’s development is being handled by four studios – 2K Marin, 2K Australia, 2K Boston and a mystery partner “with some outstanding PS3-specific coding chops”.

Additionally, the post notes that 2K Boston are currently working on “as-yet-unannounced components,” while referring to the fact that the game’s physics engine will make better use of PS3′s innards than most other titles.

BioShock on the PS3 is due out this October, almost a year after its release on PC and Xbox 360.
