NVIDIA Officially Announces 9M Mobile GPUs, Offers 40% More Performance
Bringing updated gaming graphics to laptops, NVIDIA has announced the new GeForce 9M series of mobile graphics processors, which are probably their worst kept secret ever. The new GPUs will bring much-needed horsepower and a new technology called Hybrid SLI to full-featured laptops.
Hybrid SLI involves two technologies – Hybrid Power, which allows an integrated GPU to run instead of a discrete GPU to save power, and GeForce Boost, which lets two similarly-powered GPUs work in tandem to improve performance.
The new GPUs will also sport improved PureVideo HD video processing features, as well as support for Blu-ray Profile 2.0 and Blu-ray Live standards. They will also support HDMI 1.3 and DisplayPort 1.1 display outputs.
NVIDIA claims these GPUs will be 40% faster than its previous generation. These are expected to be rolled out sometime later this year in desktop replacement notebooks.
