Limbo Game Pulled Due To Theft Accusations
It seems piracy isn’t the only thing video game companies have to worry about. Although point-and-click adventure games have taken a backseat to more popular genres, a few still pop up here and there. Developer Majestic recently released an adventure game for the PC called Limbo of the Lost. It seems that there are still enough people interested in the genre to uncover a few familiar details in the game.
Some side by side screenshots of Limbo of the Lost and Bethesda’s Oblivion showed a remarkable similarity between certain sections of the two games. In particular is a very damning shot of a store counter in Oblivion that is reproduced almost exactly in Limbo. The game’s publisher, Tri Synergy has said that they were unaware of this and have pulled the game off the shelves and have also ceased selling it online. Thus far there is no response from Majestic, as the development team is reportedly on vacation following the release of the game. That of course sounds appropriately suspicious, but someone should have told them it’s much better to run into the shadows once you’ve created a successful product.
