Wii Fit Causing Damage
Many lamented the arrival of the Wii. Brand new flatscreen televisions were rendered useless by flying Wiimotes. Even smaller devices such as Blackberrys and iPods were destroyed by the unanticipated departure from their users hands of these controllers-turned-projectiles. Reinforced straps and a general understanding that you didn’t have to flail wildly to get the Wii to recognize your motions cut the frequency of these incidents down.
The WiiFit has caused damage to televisions, furniture, flowerpots and even pets. Interestingly this is mostly being caused by women. One fifth of women polled in the UK admitted that they had gotten carried away with the high kicks and hula hoop motions that are just a few of the components to the exercise program. According to insurance company Sheila Wheels, the total damage costs are about 20 million GBP.
