Spore Offends An Unlikely Group

On August 13th, 2008 in Uncategorized -

Video games are no stranger to criticism from conservatives and liberals alike. Blasted for their callous violence and sexual content left and right by teachers, politicians, concerned parents, religious officials and crazy lawyers alike it seems there wasn’t anyone left to be upset by these games. Will Wright’s ambitious sandbox title Spore has found a new niche to piss off: atheists.

While you’d think something that allows you to play a god-like figure responsible for the life and evolution of an entire race would offend religious types first, but it seems that according to the game’s creator the only group that objected to the game were what he referred to as ‘militant atheists’.
